In case you are an EU (European Union) or EEA (European Economic Area) resident seeking to work and live in Cyprus, you will need to apply for the receipt of the yellow slip (commonly referred to as Cyprus Residence Permit). The yellow slip enables migration to Cyprus, offering opportunities to live, work and move freely within Cyprus.
EU Nationals (including Nationals of EEA countries) are obliged to register at the Civil Registry and Migration Department within 4 months from the date of their arrival.
EU Nationals (including Nationals of EEA countries) who will be locally employed, shall register to the Civil Registry and Migration Department immediately upon their arrival (regardless of the duration of their employment).
Depending on the requirements of each individual the following certificates can be issued:
- MEU1: Registration Certificate has no expiration date and can be issued to the following EU Nationals:
- Locally employed or self-employed.
- Not employed (given financial means exist).
- Direct family members of registered EU nationals.
- Assignees under Posted Workers Directive.
- MEU2: Residence Permit is valid for 5 years and can be issued to the following Non-EU Nationals:
- Spouse or partner of an EU National.
- Direct descendants of either an EU National or a non-EU National under 21 years of age.
- Direct relatives in the ascending line, of either of a spouse/partner (defined by law).
- MEU3: Permanent Residence Certificate has no expiration date and can be issued to EU Nationals and their family members who can prove that they have been legally residing uninterrupted for 5 years in the Republic.
